TALKIN’ TRASH

Litter is a BIG Problem.
There are more than 2,000 pieces of litter per mile along our roadways.

Did you know – in 2020 there were 50 BILLION pieces of litter along U.S. roadways and waterways – that’s the equivalent of 152 pieces of litter for every U.S. resident! (Data Source - www.kab.org)
WEEK 1: Community Service
Community service groups will focus on city limit roadways and high impact areas. Small trash, debris, and large items will start to be removed.

WEEK 2: Area Organizations
Area organizations will organize efforts in specific areas around parks, schools, and Kennett Ward 1. Asking groups like Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H Club, Rotary Clubs, Kiwanis to volunteer.

WEEK 3: Local Businesses
Local businesses and residents will work to pickup up trash and litter around their property to be sure that trash is removed from around their address..

WEEK 4: Schools
Ask schools to educate on the importance of civic engagement and encourage students to pickup trash inside the yards where they live.

WEEK 5: Neighborhoods
All residents, whether they rent or own, will be asked to remove trash from the yard around their home, and where safely possible remove trash from common areas in their neighborhoods.
